Creative Kind

Creative Kind is the kind of place where crafters & creatives come to shop and never want to leave. Founded in 2015 by Theresa Delaney in response to her own longing for a creative haven to make friends as an adult, Creative Kind is one of the best places in Tucson to find locally made gifts, craft supplies, and stationery. They offer daily open-crafting space for creatives who want to get out of the house to make, and they also have regular workshops covering topics from flower arranging to fiber arts to watercoloring and more. Best of all? You can BYOB. So basically, it’s a crafting Utopia.

We were really inspired by the desert roots of Creative Kind’s hometown, Tucson, Arizona, so our visual identity strategy focused on incorporating the colors and textures of the locale and their important connection to the brand. Our custom illustrations employed the visual similarities between the sandy, gritty feel of craft mediums such as letterpress, screen printing, and paint splatter and the natural textures of desert environments, while creating a relaxed, engaging vibe. The Creative Kind brand color palette also incorporates inspiration from native rock formations such as The Wave and Pine Tree Arch, as well as natural Arizona turquoise. Tying everything together are subtle, natural feeling brand patterns of speckles, stratified layers, and a terrazzo-like effect.
